Including Project Gutenberg ebooks
Project Gutenberg (www.gutenberg.org) is a volunteer-based organization that digitizes titles that are in the public domain. You can include Project Gutenberg ebooks in your database to be searched as titles within your library. Library users can download the ebooks from the search results list or from the details page of the book.
Project Gutenberg provides MARC from its site. You can download the MARC records and import them into your ILS to provide access and links to the ebooks. Search for "MARC records" on the Project Gutenberg site. For more information about loading MARC records into your ILS, see your ILS documentation.

If you have subscribed to eResource Central, you can load the Project Gutenberg catalog into your library system. Loading the catalog through eResource Central provides the download from within Portfolio, rather than providing a link to Project Gutenberg where the download would be done. For more information about subscribing to eResource Central, contact your SirsiDynix representative. |
